David E. Robinson, III is the Founder and Director of the Still Waters Youth Sinfo-Nia of Metropolitan Atlanta, http://www.stillwatersyouthsinfo-nia.org He sends us a link to Tropical Rhythms: A String Project in Jamaica by Dr. Lisa Darby Walker, California, 2004. She is Founder of the Jamaica Symphony Orchestra, which has changed its name to JSO International.

"Greetings,
Here is a link that was sent to me by Dr. Lisa Darby Walker (originally from Chicago) and how she created the Jamaica Symphony Orchestra. Check it out: This is great historical information. She and her husband now live in Paris, France but still is very connected with the Symphony on an international basis where she is starting branches of it all over the world. I enjoyed playing cello with them as artist-in-residence last November.

Sincerely,
David E. Robinson, III"

The dissertation provides this background:
“Tropical Rhythms, a String Project in Jamaica, transpired from 1997 to 2001 under the leadership of JSO's founder, Dr. Lisa Walker, who later submitted the project as partial fulfillment of the requirements for her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Claremont Graduate University, California.”
