CubanCulturalCenter.org: 'Cuban Overtures ~ from José White to George Gershwin, Friday, April 29, 7:30 PM'

José Silvestre White, or José Silvestre White y Lafitte, was an Afro-Cuban violinist who became a composer and professor after graduating from the Paris Conservatory. He is profiled at AfriClassical.com, which features a Works List by Prof. Dominique-René de Lerma of Lawrence University Conservatory. AfriClassical has asked the Cuban Cultural Center what music of José White will be played at the concert. We have received this reply:

“As of now, I believe the piece by José White in the April 29 recital will be Bella Cubana. The program, which is always subject to change, wlll also include other Cuban composers. Thank you for your inquiry.”
