PETERSBURG - “Hurricane Irene has forced the Southside Virginia AGO Chapter to reschedule the organ concert by Louise Temple-Rosebrook, featuring the music of women composers. The concert will now be presented at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 201 Walnut Boulevard, Petersburg. Dr. Temple-Rosebrook was, for many years, a member of the Richmond Chapter of the AGO and substitute organist in the area. She currently serves as assistant organist at Trinity Episcopal, Staunton, and teacher of microbiology at James Madison University.

“Both worlds of church music and science present challenges to professional women, thus her interest in highlighting this seldom performed organ literature. The program includes pieces by Emma Lou Diemer, Roberta Bitgood, Ethyl Smythe, Fanny Mendelssohn-Hensel, Florence Price, Jeanne Shaffer, Clara Schumann, and others which are interesting, enjoyable, tuneful and audience friendly.
The concert is free and open to the public.
