Michael S. Wright considers "Summerland" "one of Still's greatest 'miniatures'"

Michael S. Wright responds:

Bill,
There is an excellent CD done by the Northern Arizona University and Patricia Hoy that includes the wind band arrangement. I have to say that ‘Summerland’ is just one of those masterpieces that works wonderfully well in many ways. Whilst it was originally written for piano as the central movement to ‘Three Visions’, I have always had the feeling that the composer must have had bigger ideas. The whole suite is in my view one of Still’s greatest ‘miniatures’.

Kind regards
Mike
