"Sinfonia No. 5, a new work completed in 2016 by distinguished composer George Walker, is in one continuous movement. On this world premiere recording, two versions are presented. The work has four quotes of varying lengths inserted in the score with the first version containing five brief speaking parts for soprano, tenor, two baritones, and bass.The second version does not contain the spoken text. George Walker is the recipient of seven honorary doctorate degrees and a Pulitzer Prize for his work, Lilacs for Voice and Orchestra. His extensive discography includes recordings of his chamber, vocal, instrumental and orchestra music. This is the fifth volume of his orchestral music to appear on Albany Records " (Albany Records)
