Sphinx Organization: Congratulations to the Laureates of the 21st Annual Sphinx Competition!

Rubén Rengel, Violin
Senior Division Winner
 
22-year-old Rubén Rengel, a student at Rice University's Shepherd School of Music, was awarded 1st place in the Senior Division on Sunday, February 4, 2018.  
 
He will receive a $50,000 award, a custom-made gold bow by Berg Bows International, and have the opportunity to be featured with Sphinx Soloist Program Partners.

Cellist Gabriel Martins won 2nd place with a $20,000 award.  
 
Violinist Randall Goosby won 3rd place with a $10,000 prize. Randall was also the recipient of Sphinx's $5,000 Audience Choice Award, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services.

Levi Powe, Cello
Junior Division Winner

17-year old Levi Powe from Tucson, Arizona, won 1st place in the Junior Division of the Sphinx Competition on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Levi will receive a $10,000 award and have the opportunity to be featured with Sphinx Soloist Program Partners.

Violinist Sophia Ayer won 2nd place with a $5,000 cash prize and violist Sophia Inés Valenti won 3rd place with a $3,000 cash prize.
